Seven Days In May

Incredibly smart. Much more so then the Manchurian candidate. I’m glad I’m on this John Frankenheimer kick. After signing a disarmament treaty with the Russians, the President is facing incredibly low approval numbers. The Joint Chiefs of Staff plan to overthrow the government. One colonel (played by Kirk Douglas) stumbles upon the plan, and informs the President. However there are only 5 days until the planed takeover. Well the entire movie takes place over 7 days… in May. The two sides play behind the scenes, each trying to catch the other. The most impressive part is how realistic the scenario is. I suppose at the time it was all too real. I give it High marks.
