The film is highly sympathetic to Aileen, a prostitute who kills her clients, and portrays Selby as a naive girl. Granted Aileen is somewhat naive too, having never had a healthy relationship. The two meet in a bar and jump straight into it. The acting is superb, Charlize Theron’s Oscar was well deserved. Christina Ricci is also excellent. A intense, worthwhile film.
