Rashomon

Faith in humanity. Truth. Is man inherently evil or good? The themes of Rashomon are presented in the context of a mystery, we never know the true sequence of events just the outcome. This is all covered in Kurosawa’s excellent camera work, with the canopy of trees casting shadows over the forest. In a great scene a cool breeze is shown by the leaves moving across the Bandits face. So subtle and real. The pounding rain at the temple also serves as a trap, Keeping the men in there conversation. Relentless as they question their very being.
