Deliberately paced, almost instructional study of a pickpocket. The film delights in the systematic finger work of the thieves, showing the meticulous slight of hand performances to separate the victim from his money. There is something almost erotic about act. It is the most humanity the protagonist shows. When not stealing, he is an shell, unable to feel emotion, just mimicking the correct words.
