The Ghost Writer

An International intrigue uncovered by a hapless ghost writer turned gumshoe. The Ghost Writer is a well crafted political thriller, that ends with a tone very reminiscence of the Manchurian Candidate. At first the explanation seems implausible, then at the end, slightly more plausible but still ridiculous. It's full of unsaid and heavily implied secrets that are never fully reveled. The production does a very convincing job of using the German island of Sylt as a stand in for Martha's Vineyard in the raw, grey marine winter. It feels right, but looks slightly off. I certainly could not have peg it as Northern Germany instead of Massachusetts.
