Stagecoach

Viewed: 20 March 2011

An early triumph of a western, beautifully shot, with entertaining characters Stagecoach is impressive. The cinematography is majestic from long shot of the stagecoach among the sandstone buttes of Monument valley, to the rough, low ceiling crowding of the men when the baby is born. The stunt work around the team of galloping horses was exhilarating. Throughout the production is excellent. Thankfully it avoids depicting the Apaches, their existence is only for an anonymous threat. For a seventy year old film is is remarkable striking and deserves the respect it has.
