A visually stunning meditation on the life of a soldier in what was the modern warfare of the first Gulf war. The greatest adversity they face is boredom in the desert. When they do see action it's in an absurd wasteland, full of beautiful, yet horrifying imagery and no fighting. It's a great examination of a soldier in his time and place, lost amid the apparatus of the U.S. military . Though it felt like it was five years too late, less relevant today then it would have been in the late nineties.
