The camera was extremely fluid. It was hard to even recognize that the opening shot as one take. The camera swoops and pans into the standard Wells angles, but does so unobtrusively. The focus is always on Josef K. I felt as through most of the movie went right over my head. I certainly got the bumbling fascist bureaucracy, but the little girls trying to get the painter? Every women being attracted to Josef? I was only able to dip slightly below the surface
